This suite of components delivers capabilities such as:
- Data protection for integrated catalog facility (ICF) catalogs to help increase data availability
- Capabilities that can reorganize, repair, split, and merge catalogs while they are open
- Virtual storage access method (VSAM) data set recovery to help recover VSAM data sets backed up by IDCAMS EXPORT or Rocket Software's VSAM Assist
- Ability to prevent, and recover from, many space-related abnormal ends (abends)
- Flexible policy-based management of storage allocation controls
- Monitoring and management of storage allocation issues: Multiple Data Facility Storage Management Subsystem (DFSMS) audit reports to help maintain healthy metadata environments and prevent temporary or permanent loss of data access; Conduct fast and accurate audits and diagnostics, as well as automated corrective actions to help resolve error conditions; Monitoring, reporting, analysis, and management of daily DFSMS hierarchical storage management (HSM) environment activity, including both real-time and historical trending data on usage and cost that can help optimize the DFSMShsm environment; Capability to rename, move, reorganize, or enlarge any DFSMShsm control data sets (CDSs) without the need to schedule application downtime
