Compatibility with Apple Xsan and support of Celerra
Atempo Digital Archive enables the automated and end-user triggered movement of data from primary disk onto archival media. It seamlessly integrates into the most complex digital workflows to help organizations improve the overall management of their digital assets while significantly reducing storage costs. Previously available on Windows, Linux and Solaris platforms, the ADA server’s new support for Mac OS X gives dedicated Mac environments the ability to administer and operate the software without having to introduce and maintain another operating system. ADA’s administration console is also now native to Mac OS X and has been enhanced to improve the software’s ease-of-use.
ADA 2.3 also includes new support for EMC Celerra NAS used as primary storage. The integration enables ADA to leave stubs on the EMC Celerra when the files have been moved to archive media. Windows Server 2008 and Windows Cluster System are also now supported with ADA. The software’s core features include end user initiated archive through a dedicated light user interface, file level de-duplication, full content indexing and search, file stubbing capabilities that allow for the easy retrieval of archived information, and many other features that make it a leading file archiving and digital workflow management application.
“Atempo Digital Archive 2.3 gives data-intensive organizations immediate benefits by helping them better manage their digital assets workflow, but at the same time, the software’s full capabilities help these organizations rethink their retention practices and help turn the archival of digital assets into a strategic business component,” said Mark Sutter, CTO of Atempo. “ADA is optimized for organizations that recognize archiving as not only a cost-effective approach to long-term data preservation, but also as a critical step in the information lifecyle. ADA is further set apart by its emphasis on delivering the greatest usability for medium and large companies in the long-term retention of their digital assets.”
In addition to other data intensive industries, Atempo furthers its commitment to meeting the data management needs of media and entertainment customers with ADA’s new support for Apple and other shared file systems. These shared file systems are commonly deployed in the creative industries alongside Final Cut Server, Apple’s widely-used digital asset management and workflow automation software. ADA fully integrates with Final Cut Server, giving customers the ability to use Atempo’s file archiving solution as a key part of the digital media workflow. With ADA, end-users working on storage-intensive projects can easily move data into archival media as needed using the Final Cut Server Client, ensuring that high-value creative content is preserved at any stage of its digital lifespan, and is available for easy recovery and re-use.
