Integration of Arkeia Software With Mandriva Enterprise Server
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on Fri, July 3rd, 2009
For backup on Linux
Mandriva and Arkeia Software have collaborated since 2000 and share hundreds of customers such as Brown University, Fairfield Trucking, and Skynet. Building on this foundation, Arkeia and Mandriva are now delivering specific Arkeia packages for Mandriva’s users, reducing the risk and complexity of software deployments. The new Arkeia dedicated packages include support for the recently launched Mandriva Enterprise Server 5 (MES 5), a dedicated server for midsized enterprise customers. Arkeia Network Backup now supports MES 5 in both 32 and 64-bit x86 distributions. Arkeia also provides Disaster Recovery software for Mandriva servers as well as hot backup agents for DB2, Lotus, LDAP, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and Zimbra. Arkeia has also improved support for administrative tools such as urpmi, OpenLDAP and Kerberos.
“Mandriva has more than 6 million users in 140 countries, and Arkeia has delivered backup solutions to Linux customers for nearly a decade,” said Arman Goldarreh, Managing Director at Sahlan Telecommunication FZC, a Dubai-based reseller of both Mandriva and Arkeia Software. “This partnership makes it easy for companies that are committed to Linux to realize the benefits of enterprise backup and recovery solutions, and we are thrilled about this partnership.”
“Arkeia is committed to Linux and to Mandriva,” explains Frederic Renard, vice-president of marketing at Arkeia Software. “Companies require protection for their data, and backup software makes this possible. With Arkeia’s broad and deep support for Mandriva and for open source databases and applications, we ensure companies protect their data and let them entrust more of their infrastructure to Linux.”
“This announcement extends our long-term partnership with Arkeia Software and strengthens our position as a continued technology innovator and leader in the Linux industry. For organizations requiring the highest security, scalability, and reliability, Arkeia Network Backup and Mandriva Enterprise Server is a compelling choice, said Armel Kermorvant, Vice-President of OEM/ODM at Mandriva.
Arkeia Network Backup Available in Mandriva Repository
The new partnership makes Arkeia Network Backup available in the Mandriva software repository. Mandriva Enterprise Server 5 now includes a free-trial version of Arkeia Network Backup, allowing customers to easily install and test Arkeia Network Backup packages for 30 days. Furthermore, Arkeia Network Backup subscription licenses are now available at the Mandriva online store, making use beyond the 30 day trial period as easy as entering the license keys purchased from the Mandriva online store. Mandriva also becomes an Arkeia reseller partner, allowing its sales team to resell Arkeia software within Linux-based Mandriva solutions.
