MXI Security Stealth M-Series Selected for CAPS Evaluation
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on Fri, April 3rd, 2009
From the CESG, the UK national technical authority for information assurance
Introduced to help protect against the increasing threats targeting Government communications, data and systems, the CESG Assisted Products Service (CAPS) provides independent verification that cryptographic products meet Government standards and then formally approves their use by UK Government agencies and the wider public sector.
In a statement last October on the number of public sector data breaches reported to its office, the UK Information Commissioner Richard Thomas commented: “It is alarming that despite high profile data losses, the threat of enforcement action, a plethora of reports on data handling and clear ICO guidance, the flow of data breaches and sloppy information handling continues.” Since then, information released by the ICO reveals that almost 100 further UK-based breaches have been reported in the last three months from the private sector, the NHS, central and local government.
Says London-based Gerard Reusing, President of MXI Security: “We developed the Stealth M550 encrypted USB device specifically to tackle the problem of portable data loss, head-on. The device provides full encryption at all times and cannot be used unless it is unlocked by its legitimate owner.”
The Stealth M550 was introduced in February 2009 and includes Bluefly, the world’s first dedicated hardware security processor for USB devices, designed to protect against all forms of malware. The device features a unique SafeShare secure multi-user mode and advanced manageability capabilities such as device recycling, while its unique integrated metal enclosure is durable, waterproof, and dustproof.
MXI Security is a pioneer in portable security, and was the first company to certify its products through the rigorous FIPS 140-2 level 2 validation process. Well established in the United Kingdom with customers including the City of London Police, MXI Security serves the most security demanding public and private organizations in the world
