CipherMax Completes CM140T Testing To Encrypt LTO Tapes for IBM Library
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on Fri, March 7th, 2008
For the IBM TS3200 automation product equipped with LTO-3 and LTO-4 tape drives
"Proven interoperability with IBM System Storage tape library products is a critical requirement for our mutual customers," said Charles Portnoy, Sr. Director of Business Development for CipherMax. “The successful completion of testing in the System Storage Proven program shows our commitment to delivering innovative storage security solutions that can support a high level of interoperability.”
The CipherMax CM140T offers highly scalable, cost-effective encryption for tape-based storage. Its innovative, fabric-based architecture supports up to 16 Fibre Channel connections and supports installation options as a transparent appliance or a SAN switch with integrated security services. The CM140T provides a comprehensive tape security feature set, including support for data compression, data integrity checking, and secure key management.
The tested solution offers a seamless migration path for companies planning on combining encrypting LTO-4 tape drives with their legacy non-encrypting drives. Deploying the CipherMax CM140T enables encryption for tape backups using existing drives and for LTO-4 drives using LTO-3 media. CipherMax’s KeyCruiser also provides a centralized key lifecycle management system for both drive-based as well as CM140T based encryption services. Organizations no longer have to worry about introducing complexities in their backup environment such as securing only a limited portion of their backups, segregating LTO-4 media from legacy LTO media, or administering multiple key management systems.
The IBM System Storage
Proven program supports the ability of independent hardware and
software vendors to build high-quality solutions with the latest
technology on leading storage platforms as well as reduce solution
design time when multiple, tested building blocks have already been
pre-tested.
