New company's HQs in San Francisco, CA
Clustrix, Inc. announced that Mark Sarbiewski has joined the company as chief marketing officer.
Sarbiewski joined Clustrix from HP, where he was vice president of product marketing for HP Software.
Clustrix also announced its move to the new, more spacious headquarters at 201 Mission St., Suite 800, in San Francisco, CA.
Sarbiewski's appointment follows the recent appointment of Robin Purohit, a former executive at HP and Symantec, as president and CEO.
"I am pleased to announce Mark's addition to our team," said Robin Purohit. "He brings both large-company and startup experience to Clustrix, and his expertise with both inbound and outbound marketing, as well as category development will be very important for us in this growth phase."
Sarbiewski joined HP through the acquisition of Mercury in 2006. Prior to Mercury, he was vice president of marketing for InterTrust Technologies Corporation, where he led all key marketing activities. Before InterTrust, Sarbiewski was a principal consultant for five years with Pittiglio, Rabin, Todd & McGrath, and spent four years at IBM as an application software engineer.
"I have been watching Clustrix for a while," said Sarbiewski. "I was impressed with the technology, expertise and success of the serial entrepreneurs on the team, as well as the marquee customers using the Clustrix solution in production today. It is well-known that MySQL doesn't scale, and sharding is painful, expensive, and risky. Clustrix offers its customers the scale promise of NoSQL without giving up the richness of SQL. Our database solution allows them to scale to unlimited users, transactions, and data, while eliminating the need for sharding."
