Replacing John Clancy

Iron Mountain Incorporated announced the promotion of Ramana Venkata to president of Iron Mountain Digital, the Company’s technology business unit.

As president, Mr. Venkata will report directly to Bob Brennan, president and chief executive officer, and be responsible for architecting the future of Iron Mountain Digital and executing strategies to build, sell and deliver integrated digital information management services worldwide. John Clancy, former president of Iron Mountain Digital, will depart the company, following a transition period, to become a CEO in Residence at Schooner Capital LLC.

iron_mountain_ramana_venkata Mr. Venkata most recently served as chief operating officer of Iron Mountain Digital where he was responsible for structuring the organization for its next phase of growth, with an approach that integrates services into a holistic solution suite. Mr. Venkata joined Iron Mountain in 2007 through its acquisition of the eDiscovery firm Stratify, Inc., which he founded and ran as chief executive officer.

Ramana Venkata will lead Iron Mountain Digital through its next phase of growth as we strive to be the leader in outsourced information management services,” said Bob Brennan. “We thank John Clancy for the leadership he’s provided to Iron Mountain Digital, growing the business from $50 million to $230 million, and establishing our market leadership in Storage-as-a-Service.”

I am very excited to have the opportunity to lead such a world-class organization as Iron Mountain Digital, and I look forward to working more closely with Bob and the exceptional group of people that make up the Iron Mountain team,” said Venkata. “We have a unique opportunity to help our customers reduce their costs and risks of information management and at the same time, make their data more useful. This powerful concept is why I joined Iron Mountain in the first place.

Mr. Venkata founded Stratify in 1999 and successfully grew the business to be a leading provider of technology-enabled electronic data discovery services to AmLaw 200 law firms and Fortune 500 corporations. Prior to founding Stratify, Venkata was employed by Intel Corporation, working on Data Mining methodologies and applications.

He completed five years of Ph.D. research in Scientific Computing and Computational Mathematics at Stanford University, holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford, and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai.
