This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on Wed, June 11th, 2008
A combined hardware/software file protection solution realized in cooperation with PLDS (Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions)
SecurDisc technology provides a full feature set of data security-related functions through a combined hardware/software solution. It offers encryption with password protection, digital signature, higher data reliability through data storage redundancy and defect management, as well as copy protection for PDF files and a data integrity checker. SecurDisc offers users strong access controls, and Nero continues to set the standard for what end-users will come to expect in ensuring the security of their files on CDs and DVDs.
"International headlines are now continually focused on the dangers of information loss, bringing data security and document protection to the forefront for consumers worldwide," said Charly Lippoth, chief technology and strategy officer (CTO/CSO), Nero AG. "We are pleased to have in PLDS another manufacturer providing high-performance, SecurDisc-enabled drives to keep up with the market demand for this functionality."
“In SecurDisc, Nero delivers the perfect data security technology package,” said Charlie Tseng, general manager optical disc drive BU, PLDS. “The product is future-focused with end-user needs in mind and is the ideal software choice for our new DVD drive. We are confident that our SecurDisc-compatible drives will also be beneficial to OEM PC makers as well as system integrators in need of strong data security in their systems.”
The Lite-On iHAP622 is an internal half hight type DVD-RW drive and will be available on the retail market worldwide in the second half of 2008. Consumers can easily identify SecurDisc-certified drives by the unique SecurDisc logo on each piece of certified hardware. This logo ensures compatibility with the bundled SecurDisc software and represents the increased security of user files when SecurDisc data CDs or DVDs are created.
