For photo enthusiasts to share and protect digital memories
Celebrating its 39th year as a leading innovator in the storage and imaging industries, Verbatim Americas, LLC announced that PhotoStorageGuide.com, a new public website specifically designed for photo enthusiasts, is now live. The website was created to provide consumers with a trusted source of information on sharing and protecting digital memories as well as helpful ideas for doing more with their photos.

Digital photography has gained mass-market status in the US, as recent analyst reports indicate. IDC reports that digital camera shipments grew to 16.6 million in Q42007, a 31 percent increase from Q4 2006. InfoTrends predicts that the number of photos taken will increase from about 50 billion a year in 2007 to about 60 billion in 2011.
PhotoStorageGuide.com will appeal to the growing number of consumers who want the convenience of going to a single site for all of the latest information on enhancing their digital photo experience. Designed with remarkable visuals that will inspire creativity, site visitors will find it easy to navigate from the home page to special sections on Archiving, Backup and Printing digital photos. Each section includes information on the various choices available, step-by-step instructions that walk the user through the procedure and links for more information.
More than a how-to site, PhotoStorageGuide.com includes a Toolbox section with resources and ideas to help visitors enjoy their photos in a variety of ways such as scanning, editing, scrapbooking, and creating slideshows. A special “Just for Kids” Section is also included.
“By showcasing these resources, Verbatim is strengthening its commitment to provide consumers with quality information that helps them optimize the enjoyment of their digital memories,” said Dean Linker, Verbatim Imaging Product Manager. “But we also want the site to motivate people to protect their photos.”
Linker explained that based on statistics, most people don’t back up the photos on their hard drives, yet most say they’re among their most treasured possessions. “The mind set is that the photos are safe and the backup process is too complicated and time-consuming. With PhotoStorageGuide.com, we want to show consumers how fast and easy it can be to safeguard their photos. We also want the site to be a sounding board and a working tool for busy people of all ages, so as the site expands, we will include a ‘Message Board’ for sharing ideas.”
To celebrate the launch of the new website, Verbatim is sponsoring a photo contest. By clicking on the PhotoStorageGuide site’s Contest button, visitors can share their summer fun photos on the site and enter to win a Nikon D40 digital SLR camera. Contest entries must be submitted by August 30, 2008.
