Brocade, Cisco, EMC, HDS, HP and NetApp
The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Europe has announced further expansion of the SNIA Certified Storage Network Expert (SCSN-E) certification program. To date, Brocade, Cisco, EMC, Hitachi Data Systems, Hitachi Ltd, HP, and NetApp have started working with the association ensure that storage network professionals who hold their certifications can apply these credentials toward SCSN-E certification under the SNIA's Storage Networking Certification Program (SNCP). The alignment of vendors’ with the SNIA's expert level certifications, provides further opportunity for certified individuals to achieve acknowledgment for their skills and recognizes the growing demand for network professionals who have the skills to design, install, and support today's multi-vendor storage network environments.
“To have such established storage networking solutions vendors recognize and embrace SNIA certifications is proof that impartial education is highly regarded in our industry," said Rick Bauer, Technology & Education Director for the SNIA. "Whether it is an end user or a reseller our certification programs allow them to understand how technologies work and how these can help them meet the challenges they face in their organisations every day.”
The SNIA Storage Networking Certification Program (SNCP) provides a strong foundation of vendor-neutral, systems-level credentials that integrate with and complement individual vendor certifications. The structure of the SNCP has been enhanced to reflect the advancement and growth of storage networking technologies over the past few years, and to provide for expanded offerings in the future. Through enhancing the SNCP, the SNIA is establishing a uniform standard by which individual knowledge and skill sets can be judged.
“Some delegates might initially think that the SNIA certification courses are daunting and too technical but they are not. In fact they are developed to provide strong foundations to support a solid understanding of the various technologies and architectures by separating the marketing hype from the reality," said Peter Coleman, Chair of the SNIA Europe Education Committee. "A good training provider will limit the number of delegates on each course to ensure they get the best level of support from the tutors and although very comprehensive, each module is structured to be manageable and features a small test to increase the chances of the delegates passing the certification exam at the end.”
