Finisar Delivers 6Gb SAS Error Injector
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on Fri, April 25th, 2008
For storage product testing
The Xgig Jammer provides 6 Gb/s SAS protocol testing support to greatly accelerate interoperability and compliance testing by ensuring that storage products adhere to the protocol standards. This new product is integrated in to the powerful Xgig unified platform which supports all high speed storage protocols including 8Gb/s Fibre Channel, 10Gb/s Ethernet and iSCSI as well as the emerging 6Gb/s SAS and SATA offerings.
"Gartner predicts the SAS storage market will grow from roughly 16% of the worldwide units for multi-user devices in 2007 to more than 41% in 2008. Not only is this single year growth extraordinary, but SAS becomes the largest segment overall by the end of the year," said Paul Hansen, vice president of Network Tools marketing at Finisar. "Finisar is extremely pleased to be the leader in this market with best-in-class solutions that accelerate the design and deployment of this compelling technology."
The adoption of 6 Gb/s SAS line rates for storage testing is well underway as vendors race to offer the latest advances in new storage systems. With data storage requirements doubling about every two years, IT managers look for the most efficient means of storage, and SAS solutions provide low cost, reliability, and performance density. Finisar's Xgig SAS/SATA Jammer with 6 Gb/s SAS support provides customers with the latest advances in storage testing enabling better bandwidth utilization, easier management mechanisms, and network robustness.
The Xgig Jammer is a scalable hardware and software solution that places hardware directly in-line on a SAS/SATA link. The software then speeds up testing of protocol compliance and 'what-if' scenarios by allowing user-specified modification of actual network protocol traffic. This capability allows developers to improve error checking, enable shorter testing cycles, and speed up time-to-market for their storage products.
Finisar's Xgig Jammer is available and shipping now.
