Hejian Accomplishes 0.18µm Embedded Flash Memory Development
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on Wed, May 28th, 2008
With the help of Chingis that develops a process to verify flash macros of various densities
Cooperating tightly with Chingis Technology, Hejian carried out the development of the NVM process, passed all process qualifications, verified flash macros of various densities, and achieved the targeted high-yield requirement. In addition, the new NVM technology has been adopted already by several of Hejian's customers for tape-out of their embedded products.
"The successful development of such 0.18µm embedded flash technology does not only signify the beefing up of Hejian's leading status in the fast growing market of embedded NVM," stated Mr. Jerry Chang, Vice President and Chief Market & Sales Officer of Hejian, "but also guarantee our steadfast commitment to provide our customers with the most cost-effective and reliable solutions."
"The Chingis Technology unique and patented 2T-PMOS cell architecture is the key factor to achieve the remarkable advantages of the new embedded flash technology such as ultra low power consumption, disturb-avoidance, and smallest macro area." quoted from Mr. Alex Wang, CEO and President of Chingis Technology, "Also outstanding is the minimum 20 years of data retention after 200K program-erase cycles assurance, under the rigid condition of temperatures from -40℃ to 105℃."
"The new 0.18µm embedded flash technology is completely compatible with the standard 0.18µm CMOS process, thus allowing the integration of all the Hejian's existing 0.18µm logic-based IP and libraries;" said Dr. J.K Lin, Director of Hejian Research & Development Division , "Moreover, multiple sector-size can be customized in a macro in order to give more flexible system configuration required by some customers."
"For vital concerns of NVM such as life-time reliability, endurance, access time, programming speed, erasing speed, power consumption, operating voltage range, performance, and yield, this new technology demonstrates prominence over other existing solutions at the same technology node," Dr. J.K Lin mentioned, "It offers the most attractive and smallest macro area with density of up to 8M bits, which covers most embedded system applications. Furthermore the embedded technology is scalable. Its next generation version now under development is built on a more advanced technology node, and is expected to realize more than a 40% reduction in cell size."
"This is a well-managed project and executed enthusiastically," said Mr. J.H Shyu, Hejian CEO and President, "Through the seamless collaboration between Hejian and Chingis Technology, I'm pleased at the accomplishment Hejian has made to expand its abundant embedded NVM technology offerings. It's very helpful to further strengthen our competitive position and leadership in the booming embedded NVM market by satisfying Hejian's customers with the best solutions and services."
