ViaClix Incorporates Seagate 8OGB HDD to New iTV Digital Media Centers

Delivering Internet directly to a TV screen

ViaClix, Inc. has entered into an agreement with Seagate Technology to include the Seagate 80GB DB35 Series hard drive with its new iTV Digital Media Centers. Scheduled to launch Q2 2008, ViaClix Digital Media Centers provide a complete, end-to-end IPTV hardware/software solution for delivering the Internet directly to a TV screen.

Easily expandable and remotely upgradeable, the iTV Digital Media Centers feature ViaClix‚s patented technology which enables consumers to use their TVs to browse the Web, send emails, search, chat and enjoy video-on-demand with time-shifting capabilities.

With the Seagate DB35 Series, ViaClix users can download and store TV shows, movies, games, research and communications for viewing at their convenience. While the 80GB version will be standard with the ViaClix systems, other capacities will be offered as an option. The 80GB drive can store up to 33 hours of DVD-quality videos, over 1,125 hours of MP3 audio or 80GB of data. Whisper-quiet, the high-performance drive features a SATA 3Gb/s interface and a 78 MB/s maximum sustained data transfer rate to provide faster file copying and document retrieval, better graphics and improved game performance.

"ViaClix has overcome a major roadblock to Internet and TV convergence by offering complete digital media centers and making them easy enough for the average consumer to use and enjoy," said Brian Dexheimer, President of the Consumer Solutions Division, at Seagate. "The DB35 Series is the ideal complement for these solutions because consumers expect high-quality video and that requires delivering a continuous stream of data."

"The hard drive included with ViaClix iTV Digital Media Systems will play a vital role in its success," said Lida Nobakht, ViaClix, Founder and CEO. "That's why we‚re only using the best. In the storage industry, Seagate is recognized worldwide for the performance and reliability of its hard disk drives, so it was our first choice. Together, we will forge a new business model in the Internet/TV arena."
