CC&C Shows Wireless USB HDD
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on Tue, June 10th, 2008
With Artimi
Artimi Inc., developer of high-speed wireless semiconductors for portable consumer electronics, and CC&C Technologies Inc., a leading wireless peripherals manufacturer, announced today that CC&C will this week launch production-ready Wireless USB hard disk drive (HDD) and Wireless USB projector designs based on Artimi's easily integrated high speed Wireless USB solutions.

Artimi's Wireless USB Hard Disk Drive Reference Design Kit
Following evaluation of Artimi's Wireless USB solutions, CC&C has now developed high-performance platforms for a Wireless USB hard disk drive and a Wireless USB projector adapter, and will be demonstrating production-ready solutions at this week's Computex show in Taipei.
The hard disk drive and the projector adapter both integrate a Wireless USB module, based on Artimi's unique Zero Install plug & play platform that requires no driver installation on the host PC. PC-side connectivity is provided by a plug-in USB dongle. Importantly, both solutions also support notebook PCs with integrated Wireless USB, to take advantage of the growing Wireless USB ecosystem.
The Wireless USB hard disk drive delivers high throughput, easy to use wireless data transfer, enabling fast, simple transfer and backup of files at speeds of over 100Mbps.
The Wireless USB projector adapter offers business users easy wireless connection to any existing LCD or DLP projector, simply by plugging a Wireless USB dongle into their PC. Offering high frame rate data projection at resolutions up to 1280x1024, the Zero Install solution enables visitors, or users of corporate PCs with restricted security policies to benefit from simple wireless connectivity, with no software or device drivers installed on the PC.
Artimi's reference designs for the Wireless USB hard disk drive and Wireless USB projector are based on the company's A-150 chipset which has been certified by the USB-IF, and include a full set of design, production and product information, designed to make integration as simple as possible.
Andrew Vought, CEO for Artimi, said: "CC&C's decision to integrate Artimi's Wireless USB solutions further demonstrates Artimi's position as the supplier of choice for Wireless USB applications. CC&C has excellent links to major OEM brands who will benefit from the unique product features our technology enables."
Charles Chen, CEO for CC&C, said: "After evaluating Artimi's Wireless USB solutions, CC&C selected Artimi on the basis of their leading throughput performance, the ease of integration, and their focus on making wireless products simple for end users. We are confident this delivers a real advantage to us, and our OEM customers."
A pre-production Wireless USB hard disk drive and Wireless USB projector adapter using Artimi's easily integrated reference designs, appeared on CC&C's booth at Computex Taipei.
