As part of cloud infrastructure
![]()
SolidFire's block storage
technology offered the performance, flexibility and scale that
Calligo needed to support thousands of applications within their
shared infrastructure. In addition, SolidFire's all-SSD performance
and QoS controls enabled Calligo to increase VM densities while
inline data reduction techniques increased profitability and reduced
their carbon footprint.
"Our users here in the Channel Islands vary in size and have locations all around the world. We combine proven best-of-breed technologies that are often out of reach for an individual customer. We make both our infrastructure and the solutions that ride on top of that infrastructure cost-effective and easily accessible," said Julian Box, CEO of Calligo. "We chose SolidFire after extensive research and development work, initially with systems that were not designed for large scale multi-tenant user environments, then with SolidFire itself. With SolidFire's guaranteed QoS, we now offer hard SLAs around exact performance metrics while remaining in compliance with local data residency and data protection mandates. Outside of backups, everything we do is fueled by SolidFire; we don't require a unique storage infrastructure for each of our PaaS, SaaS, or IaaS offerings."
"Delivering predictable primary storage in the cloud is a unique challenge, and one of the main reasons why I founded SolidFire. The storage system was designed from the ground up to enable providers to deliver compute clouds with guaranteed storage performance both profitably and at scale," commented Dave Wright, SolidFire founder and CEO. "We are very excited to be part of the leading-edge infrastructure that Calligo is bringing to the off-shore community. They are leveraging our QoS capabilities to build firm SLAs and are taking full advantage of the system's flexibility by implementing SolidFire's technology behind all of their services. We are looking forward to working hand-in-hand with Calligo as they continue to differentiate themselves in this crowded market."
