assona GmbH Cuts Storage and Recovery Time With Overland

Overland Storage, Inc. announced that it has installed two SnapServer NAS systems at assona GmbH.

The SnapServer solution from Overland has improved the German Insurance company's backup and DR strategy.

assona's business generates a large number of files, from scanned contracts and insurance policies through to customer claim forms. These files were being stored locally on a Linux server before being backed up to another device based in a data centre in Frankfurt. This proved to be time consuming, hard to manage and difficult to recover data from the remote location.

After researching its options, assona chose two SnapServers. The NAS appliance offers a performance, scalable platform for storing file and block data that is simple to deploy and manage. With the ability to scale to hundreds of terabytes, the SnapServers have resolved assona's scalability requirements. The insurance company can now replicate data from its primary onsite systems to the second offsite system, which acts as a remote backup, on a daily basis. This ensures data will be recoverable in the event of a disaster or network failure.
