SNS Ellipse HBA Achieves Certification With LSI

Delivering Mac compatibility to enterprise SAN

Studio Network Solutions (SNS), a provider of post production SAN systems for the Media and Entertainment storage market, announced today that its Ellipse Enterprise HBA has been certified for use with LSI storage systems and Mac OS X.

The Ellipse Enterprise Fibre Channel HBA (Host Bus Adapter) from SNS delivers an industry breakthrough: the ability for Macintosh servers and workstations to take full advantage of the fault tolerant, multi-pathing I/O and failover/failback features found in Redundant Disk Array Controller (RDAC)-enabled storage systems from LSI.

The certification process ensures interoperability between the SNS and LSI products and brings advanced enterprise-class SAN performance and fault tolerance to Mac OS X customers.

The relationship between LSI and SNS is an important part of our media and entertainment strategy,” said Julie Ryan, director of alliances, Engenio Storage Group, LSI. “By certifying interoperability between LSI storage systems and Ellipse Enterprise HBA technology, we’re able to optimize the performance and reliability of our combined offerings for the media and entertainment industries.”

"The Ellipse Enterprise HBA addresses the goal of integrating Macintosh systems into the Enterprise corporate storage strategy," said Gary Holladay, President of Studio Network Solutions. "Enabling RDAC, multi-pathing and fault tolerance for the Macintosh is an industry-first and we're pleased that our Ellipse Enterprise HBAs have been certified for use with LSI-enabled storage arrays."

The Ellipse Enterprise HBA is compatible with Mac OS X Leopard and Tiger. It is now available worldwide and can be ordered in single-, dual-, and quad-port configurations of PCIe or PCI-X.
