PMC-Sierra and Seagate Achieve 6Gb SAS Interoperability

For next SAS-2 HDDs
Interoperability testing demonstrated 6Gb/s line rate traffic exchanges between Seagate's early development 6Gb/s SAS HDDs and PMC-Sierra's 6Gb/s SAS chipsets, which includes the Tachyon SPC 8x6G SAS protocol controller, the SRC 8x6G RAID-on-Chip controller and maxSAS SXP 36/24x6GSec expander switches.
"As a leading provider of enterprise storage system solutions for networked and server storage applications, PMC-Sierra is focused on ensuring that fully interoperable components are available to reduce time-to-market for 6Gb/s SAS/SATA systems," said Travis Karr, vice president of marketing for PMC-Sierra's Enterprise Storage Division.
