SANBlaze: 20-Port 8Gb FC Emulation Systems

Utilizing 4-port Emulex HBAs
SANBlaze Technology, Inc. announced the availability of 20-port 8G Fibre Channel Emulation systems.
Utilizing four-port Emulex LightPulse 8G Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) LPe12004, SANBlaze is able to increase the physical port density available in a 1U footprint to eight ports, and provide 20 ports in a 3U system, delivering target and initiator emulation at much higher densities. This increase in port count allows a SANBlaze target system to emulate in excess of 10,000 disk or tape devices, and up to 1,300 initiator devices, all in a 3U rack-mounted system. With an ability to emulate targets and/or initiators with a wide range of configurable attributes, the SANBlaze VirtuaLUN provides engineers with a flexible, scalable tool to simulate real data center Ethernet and Storage Area Network (SAN) environments, at a fraction of the cost of real devices. This latest innovation in the SANBlaze product line provides a unique set of functions applicable in all aspects of a product lifecycle, from development to design validation and test and quality assurance (QA).
"The availability of the four-port Emulex HBA and the integration of it into our tool allows SANBlaze to provide more emulation ports per rack space, which is critical for large configuration testing and QA," said Mitul Patel, SANBlaze's product manager. "In addition to the systems that SANBlaze provides, customers are also able to incorporate the Emulex HBA into systems of their own, and purchase SANBlaze emulation software to run on these configurations, leveraging their storage lab equipment for higher density testing."
Additionally, SANBlaze and Emulex worked together to integrate SANBlaze BlazterMode functionality into the solution, providing full-line rate operation regardless of port density, an important feature for performance and throughput testing.
"By incorporating Emulex's high-performance quad-channel 8Gb/s Fibre Channel HBAs into the 20-port 8G Fibre Channel Emulation systems, SANBlaze continues to deliver high density, scalable Fibre Channel Emulation solutions that meet customers' continued demand for cost effective emulation solutions for storage product development and testing," said Steve Daheb, chief marketing officer and senior vice president of business development.
