Secret Start-Up Storspeed Opens its Web Site

But the company remains in stealth mode.
Based in Austin, TX, privately-held Storspeed was born in 2007 and got during that year $13 million in Series A funding. What for? The company has not revealed any product up to now, stating only that it is "accelerating the performance of network-based storage and extending customers’ IT investment." Here is a picture of what could be the Storspeed SP5000 accelerator, but with no more information about it:
The executives of the start-up have excellent storage background.
Mark Cree, co-founder, President and CEO, led Cisco entry into storage networking as GM of Cisco Systems Storage Router Business Unit, following the acquisition of NuSpeed where he was Chairman and CEO.
Other co-founder Greg Dahl, is VP of Business Development, being formerly VP of Marketing and Business Development at Tricord Systems, an early pioneer of clustered NAS appliances. Prior to that, he served as VP of Sales and Marketing for StorageTek's networking division.
CTO Spencer Shepler has broad storage experience that includes positions at IBM and Sun Microsystems where he specialized in Solaris Kernel/NFS engineering.
Vice President of Sales Peter Amirkhan served as VP of WW Sales at BlueArc.
