Pivot3, Inc. is an authorized supplier of video surveillance storage solutions to Siemens Security Solutions, a U.S.-based business unit of Siemens Industry, Inc.'s Building Technologies Division.

The move to add Pivot3 to the Siemens technology portfolio demonstrates the importance of storage as a strategic element of major security installations. Siemens has already installed Pivot3 appliances in more than a dozen large-scale installations in the gaming, airport and pharmaceutical markets. By offering Pivot3 storage technologies, Siemens is able to deliver a comprehensive security solution to its enterprise-class customer base and a storage appliance that provides a new cost point for high-capacity installations.

Pivot3 develops high-capacity storage solutions for video surveillance applications and is a provider of storage solutions optimized for video surveillance. Pivot3 appliances are based on open systems hardware platform that provides both server and storage resources in a single array. The reduction in hardware saves users 22 percent in acquisition costs and 40 percent in operational costs. Pivot3 also provides a scalable iSCSI SAN array with no single point of failure and each appliance contributes a free virtual server that can access the shared capacity and performance of the SAN.
