Parallels announced that ProServe, a leading Internet Service Provider (ISP) in the Netherlands, has selected Parallels Virtuozzo Containers 4.0 to deliver a cost-efficient and scalable Online Backup solution via a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model.

By using Parallels Virtuozzo Containers, ProServe is able to quickly deliver an on-line backup solution with the necessary performance, cost-efficiency, scalability and isolation required for their VOBS offered in a SaaS delivery model.

SaaS provides end users with the ability to use software applications without the upfront investment in hardware and licensing and without the ongoing maintenance issues associated with maintaining a 24×7 service.

Parallels virtualization and automation solutions enable service providers and ISVs to deliver web applications, multi-tenant applications, and traditional single instance applications without significant integration or development.

ProServe’s VOBS offering is flexible, with many software capabilities and services. It features backup storage from 1GB up to 250GB, flexible backup schedules from days, weeks, months and years and can be supported with modules for Microsoft Exchange/SQL, Lotus Domino, Oracle, MySQL and others. The SaaS feature enables a new virtual container to be created by an end user in a matter of one command line and less than five minutes time.
