Mitsubishi Chemical to cease BD, DVD production
Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corp. will cease production of Blu-ray Discs and DVDs, according to sources. Mitsubishi Chemical's retreat comes against a backdrop of declining profitability globally due to competition with low-priced BDs and DVDs manufactured overseas. Overall sales of DVDs are declining, while global sales of BDs are still small.
