Bresnan Communications Deployed Mimosa Archiving Solution

To protect its internal email data
Mimosa Systems announced that Bresnan Communications has deployed the next-generation Mimosa NearPoint content archiving solution for rapid information discovery, retention, protection, and recovery of its vital internal email data.
According to the Telecommunications Industry Association, the worldwide telecommunications market is expected to grow at a 9.2 percent compound annual growth rate from 2008 to 2011. Bresnan Communications’ internal Exchange database has been feeling the impact of the company’s own impressive growth. In recent years, the database has grown at a rate of 30 to 50 percent per year.

“Our Exchange database was growing very rapidly, and we relied on tape backup for Exchange,” said Martin Pickup, senior director of IT, Bresnan Communications. “End user performance was also taking a big hit. PST files were filed everywhere. That meant there was no universal way for employees to find email, making end-user and discovery searches very slow. This significantly increased our IT support calls, taking away valuable IT resources.”
Bresnan selected Mimosa NearPoint for archiving its internal email data to improve storage, retention, and discovery processes, dramatically reducing the time IT and end users spend on content searches. With fingertip search and browse capabilities, users are now empowered to quickly access older email with a single click on the Mimosa Archive Folder, eliminating the need for IT intervention or user training, which saves both time and resources.
Pickup said that Bresnan’s initial NearPoint installation was 'straightforward and trouble-free,' prompting the company to leverage the disaster recovery features of the software and consider failover Exchange servers at alternate data center facilities.
“The constantly accelerating growth rate in the telecommunications industry has dramatically increased the amount of content these companies are creating every day,” said Christophe Culine, senior vice president worldwide sales, Mimosa Systems. “Bresnan Communications is the perfect example of a company that dealt with that growth effectively and proactively, relying on NearPoint to optimize its storage management and improve data retention as well as efficiently retrieve archived data.”
