Atempo and Nirvanix Partnering
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on Wed, July 2nd, 2008
To integrate file archiving with cloud storage
As Atempo’s first software to be offered through cloud storage, ADA is optimized for organizations requiring powerful long-term data retention capabilities, but needing to significantly reduce storage infrastructure costs. Customers that select ADA’s cloud storage delivery option will have at their disposal a virtual and infinite 'archival disk drive in the clouds' that is fully integrated with the software and is as interoperable as any Network-Attached Storage device.
With essential features like file de-duplication, full content indexing and search, and a unique utility that identifies inactive content ready for archive, ADA provides unmatched flexibility and control for IT administrators, and simplicity for end-users through an easy-to-use interface. In delivering these critical functionalities through the Nirvanix SDN, Atempo now offers customers further flexibility and simplicity by removing the burden of maintaining their own physical archive media.
“Atempo customers who select this cloud storage option powered by the Nirvanix SDN introduce new pricing flexibility to their organization,” said Edgard Capdevielle, vice president of business development at Nirvanix. “These companies can save between 50-90 percent of their current data center infrastructure costs by relying on our secure SDN rather than operating and maintaining their own storage media. Also, instead of having a flat service fee, Atempo customers will only pay for the amount of cloud storage space used on a monthly basis.”
The flexibility of Nirvanix’s SDN ensures that ADA end-users have fast file transfer rates and constant access to valuable archived data – access that is especially critical for eDiscovery and compliance purposes. With globally distributed storage nodes that provide worldwide coverage, the SDN delivers a consistent user experience anywhere in the world. Moreover, ADA customers who have strict disaster avoidance policies can have up to three live, geographically disparate copies of their data available, further eliminating the possibility of downtime.
“Atempo Digital Archive’s integration with the Nirvanix Storage Delivery Network is not only an important partnership for our companies, but also marks a significant step for the industry overall,” said Karim Toubba, vice president of marketing and product management at Atempo. “As the world’s first software to archive critical data from the enterprise directly out into cloud storage, ADA now delivers added flexibility and cost-savings on top of its already powerful file archiving capabilities. Atempo customers who expect the industry’s greatest support and compatibility of storage media now have the benefit of preserving their most critical digital assets through this innovative cloud storage model.”
