Storware, Another Data Protection Company in Poland

Develops software to protect data wherever data reside: cloud, servers or endpoints devices.

Founded in 2013 in Poland by Paweł Mączka, Jan Sobieszczański and Maciej Mucha, Storware SP. z.o.o  Sp.k plays in the dense data protection market.

The company is self-funded and is owned today by Paweł Mączka, CTO, Jan Sobieszczański, CEO and Marcin Kubacki, chief cloud architect.

Jan Sobieszczański, founder and CEO, came from Techmex S.A. as product manager and business unit manager, director of AC Service, account manager and channel manager at IBM Poland and head of sales for Lenovo Poland. He has 17 years of experience and he’s graduated from the University of Economics in Kraków. As the CEO of Storware, he drives the strategies and international sales. 

The firm currently employs 20 people and we have found 15 of them on LinkedIn.

The company develops different software products to protect data wherever data reside: cloud, servers or endpoints devices:

  • KODO is an enterprise endpoint data protection that unifies data backup, file sync and share, protection and compliance. It supports Windows and OS X plus Android, iOS, Windows Phone. Among various features, it provides CDP, file versioning, de-dupe and email protection. It helps users to share data securely, participate to the migration of devices and data process, encrypt data and transfer and able to wipeout the device when it’s lost. It integrates with AD, MDM system and works with Samsung Knox container and API. KODO has two products companion: KODO EMM is a comprehensive mobile device management and KODO Cloud is a multi-tenant extension for KODO.
  • vProtect is an enterprise data protection that targets open virtual machines based on Citrix XenServer, Xen and KVM, KVM for IBMz, RHEV / RHV and Oracle VM but not VMware or Hyper-V covered by many ‘classic’ backup products. vProtect can be coupled with IBM Spectrum Protect, new name of TSM, EMC Networker or Veritas NetBackup and with cloud service like AWS S3 or based on OpenStack Swift. Every KVM user can benefit from a free version of vProtect if the backup images is stored on a file system.
  • FlyCoat is the dedicated offering to support Spectrum Protect with plenty of features present in other products.

Storware has a special link with IBM as all owners of the company have worked in the past in the giant company. Today, it collaborates closely with Big Blue to deliver and expand Spectrum Protect for mobile endpoints and open virtual environments.
