Areca ARC-71xx 6Gb SATA RAID Subsystems

8/12/16/24 bays, with 6Gb eSATA, GbE iSCSI and USB 3.0

Areca Technology Corporation announced its 6Gb SATA RAID-mounted ARC-71xx RAID storage.

It  is a family of backplane solution 8/12/16/24 6.0Gb SATA HDD ports depending upon the amount of storage required. ARC-71xx unleashes a multiple hosts (with 1x6Gb eSATA, 4xGbE iSCSI and one USB 3.0) solution for different cost-effective RAID applications.

More SATA disk channels make the ARC-71xx RAID enclosure suited for cost-effective and high capacity application, especially the growing demand from the VMware, Inc. ESX server external storage, DVR markets and cold storage.

ARC-71xx RAID subsystem incorporates onboard 1.2GHz storage processors and 2GB on-board DDR3-1200 SDRAM memory to offer performance with the advantage of central management and RAID protection. It can be configured to RAID levels 0, 1, 10, 1E, 3, 5, 6, 00, 100, 30, 50, 60, single disk or JBOD function selection for data protection. Configuration and monitoring can be managed either through the LCD control panel, RS232 port or Ethernet port. The firmware-embedded several available RAID managers include Internet browser, CLI, Telnet, API, SMTP and SNMP via a LAN port.

ARC-71xx RAID subsystem is designed with quad GbE host ports for a shared storage solution with Link Aggregation (LACP, Trunking), Multi-Path IO (MPIO), and iSCSI Multiple Connection per Session (MC/S) support. The one port iSCSI host interface can reach speeds as high as 108MB/s write and 107MB/s read on a RAID-5 volume. The eSATA port delivers in excess of 433MB/s reads and over 393MB/s writes while drives configured as a RAID-5 volume. USB 3.0 port delivers high-speed performance with speeds of 345MB/s read and 355MB/s write on a RAID-5 volume.
