All-Flash Array Revenue Grew 48% Y/Y in 1Q17, Reaching $1.3 Billion – Dell’Oro

“All-flash array is the only segment growing in the external storage market space,” said Jimmy Yu, VP, Dell’Oro Group. “While the total market for external storage has contracted for the past two years, and will likely decline again this year, all-flash storage system sales are reaching all new highs. We predict all-flash array revenue to grow approximately 40% in 2017 to reach nearly $7 billion while disk and hybrid storage system revenues decline about 14%.“
The top two manufacturers in the quarter were Dell EMC and NetApp. In the quarter, Dell EMC maintained the highest market share and NetApp gained the most market share compared to the year ago period. In 1Q17, NetApp’s revenue share increased six percentage points from 15% in 1Q16.
