No figures were revealed but Dell stated that demand for Virtustream public cloud for mission critical applications grew approximately 100% in 1FQ18 ended May 5, 2017.

Rodney J. Rogers, founder and CEO was formerly co-founder, chairman and CEO of Adjoined. From its inception in 2000 through its acquisition by Kanbay in 2006, Adjoined was known as a growing US-based IT services companies. He then became COO of Kanbay, a 7,000 person global IT services firm acquired by Capgemini in 2007. He is a board director of UnitedLex, a knowledge process outsourcer based in India, and Greensmith, in distributed energy storage software technology. He is an angel investor in a variety of technology start-ups, and also co-founder and director of The Blue Lagoon Foundation, a non-profit charitable giving organization.

Kevin Reid, founder, president and CTO was previously co-founder and the CTO of Adjoined, acquired by Kanbay. He then became the global practice lead for the business intelligence practice of Kanbay, which was subsequently acquired by Capgemini where he continued with as the North American practice leader for business intelligence and enterprise architecture. Prior to Adjoined he was CIO for a privately-held corporation and the largest producer and distributor of sweeteners in the United States. Before that, he was with Accenture‘s consumer products industry practice. In addition, he is president of Blue Lagoon Advisors, LLC, a private U.S-based executive advisory and private equity firm and chairman of the board for Greensmith Energy Management Systems, LLC, in distributed energy storage technology.

Virtustream Storage Cloud is an enterprise, hyperscale object storage platform. It is engineered to secure, manage, and store the growing data of large enterprises, service providers, and public sector organizations. The environment allows for cloud tiering of Dell EMC storage and backup, and provides object storage benefits to support cloud-native applications.
 
This platform is in production for several years as the primary object storage platform for a select set of customers managing multiple exabytes of data, with hundreds of billions of objects under management and an event monitoring system that processes more than 35 billion events per day.

Prices
Virtustream Storage Cloud is available in four service offerings:

  • Standard service: stores data in a single region with data being protected within that region only. Prices range from $0.03/GB for small deployments to $0.028 for large deployments. This includes a 20% entitlement for data egress and support. Overages and transactions above entitlement amounts are billed separately.
  • Standard infrequently accessed: is the service for data that needs to be online, but is suitable for long term archival and data that will not be accessed much. The price is $0.0125/GB for all capacity and includes customer support. Overages and transactions are billed separately.
  • Premium service: stores data in multiple regions with data being protected across all regions. This service is best used when data needs to be readily available, online, and protected across an entire geographical area such as the US, Europe, or AsiaPac. Prices range from $0.059/GB for small deployments to $0.055 for large deployments. This includes a 20% entitlement for data egress and support. Overages and transactions above entitlement amounts are billed separately.
  • Premium infrequently accessed: Objects can be ingested into multiple regions with data being protected across all regions. This service is suitable for long-term archival and data that will not be accessed much. The price is $0.025/GB for all capacity and includes customer support. Overages and transactions above entitlement amounts are billed separately.
