IBM Spectrum Archive Enterprise Edition V1.2.4 With Improved Capacity
And management for large-scale cloud
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 9, 2017 at 2:17 pmIBM Spectrum Archive Enterprise Edition (EE) V1.2.4 expands storage capacity, delivers management enhancements, tape usage and performance monitoring, and adds new platform support with the latest version of Spectrum Scale and Elastic Storage Server (ESS).
It improves capacity and management for large-scale cloud storage:
- Expands storage capacity with TS1155 technology
- Supports control node failover and node management enhancements
- Provides tape usage and performance monitoring
- Connects with OpenStack Swift
- Adds new platform support qualified with the latest version of Spectrum Scale and ESS
Key prerequisites
Spectrum Archive EE V1.2.4 requires Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) version 7.1, or later. Beginning with version 1.2.3 RHEL 6 and SLES 11 OSs are not longer supported. Customers that want to install or upgrade to EE V1.2.3 or EE V1.2.4 code levels have to upgrade their OS to RHEL 7.
IBM Spectrum Archive Enterprise Edition software V1.2.4 requires:
- IBM Spectrum Scale version 4.2.2 or 4.2.3
- Java VM
- TS3500, TS4500, or TS3310 tape library
Supported drives and media types
Spectrum Archive EE supports mixed environments, and any combination of these drive types can be used in a Spectrum Archive EE environment and the supported media respectively:
- LTO Ultrium Gen 7
- LTO Ultrium Gen 6
- LTO Ultrium Gen 5
- TS1140, TS1150, and TS1155 tape drives
Note: The tape media in different formats or generations need to be grouped and separated by tape pool.
