Praveen Asthana CMO, Forcepoint

Led marketing for Dell storage and networking division several years ago

Global cybersecurity company Forcepoint announced technology marketing and management executive Praveen Asthana has joined the company as CMO.

He is based in Forcepoint’s Austin, TX HQs and reports to CEO Matthew Moynahan.

As CMO, he leads all aspects of global marketing for Forcepoint and its four business areas – cloud security, betwork security, data and insider threat security and global governments. He will be responsible for driving the firm as brand and global leader in human-centric security systems that protect employees, critical business data and IP wherever they work or reside.

At Forcepoint, we believe the future of cybersecurity centers on understanding the behaviors and intent of people as they interact with each other, and with critical data and IP,” said Moynahan. “With Praveen onboard, we have the proven global marketing leadership to drive new and innovative solutions into our industry consciousness, as well as across our global customer base and partner network.”

Throughout his career, Asthana has built marketing organizations that drive both revenue and brand awareness. He comes to Forcepoint with over 25 years in technology marketing and management leadership, most recently at Oracle where he served as senior VP helping to lead Oracle’s pivot to the cloud.

I am excited about the human-centric approach Forcepoint is taking to protect businesses and government agencies. This shift in focus towards people, rather than technology infrastructure, reflects the reality of today’s threatlandscape,” he said. “We have an exciting opportunity to both transform the market with this vision and to make the world safer in the process. I’m honored to be a part of this journey.”

Prior to Oracle, he was CMO at Gravitant where he created a new market for hybrid cloud management and brokerage services. He also spearheaded Gravitant’s digital marketing strategy, driving revenue growth and brand awareness that paved the way to an acquisition by IBM in 2015. Earlier in his career, he spent nine years at Dell, most recently as VP marketing and strategy for Dell’s $12 billion enterprise group. Prior to that, he led marketing for Dell’s storage and networking division where he drove three-fold revenue growth over five years.

He earned a doctorate in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s of science degree in electrical engineering from California Institute of Technology.

This appointment is the latest move by Forcepoint to expand executive talent in the first half of 2017 with veteran leadership hailing from companies, such as Oracle, Dell, HPE, Palo Alto Networks and Symantec. Recent additions to the Forcepoint management team include Sean D. Foster, chief revenue officer; Brian J. Miller, SVP of customer success and operations; and Timothy B. Solms, SVP and GM, global governments.
