SANBlaze Launched NVMe Test Drive Platform

To perform engineering debug, quality assurance and validation

SANBlaze Technology, Inc., in embedded computing and storage emulation, announced the NVMe Drive Test Platform.

This appliance allows 2.5″ NVMe drives to be connected to a host system, creating an easy to use test and development platform for drive vendors. It enables customers to perform engineering debug, quality assurance and validation in small scale lots.

NVMe provides a standards-based approach for PCIe solid state storage access that improves performance by reducing latency and streamlining the command set, while providing support for security and end-to-end data protection.
 
David Maruska, SANBlaze’s director of hardware, explained: “The outstanding performance NVMe provides is a game changer in the storage industry. Applications ranging from transactional processing, with increased IO/s, to data recording, with the increased writes, coupled with the decreasing costs of flash storage, makes this platform a home run.”

The NVMe test backplane, together with the SANBlaze test software, allows developers of NVMe storage devices the ability to reliably QA their product by running test scenarios in the lab before release.

The platform provides development teams with tools to do trade off analysis of power versus performance and FW/HW changes or enhancements.

Users can also use the NVMe test platform against their own host system via the USB control port to induce errors and ensure the reliability of their own storage system.

When used with a SANBlaze NVMe host initiator, the system allows for a variety of test scenarios to be run. This includes I/O performance testing, NVMe conformance testing, automated hot plug testing and error injection.

The NVMe test platform is available in single and dual port configurations.
